This care is administered within the client's residence, where, in some instances, the Personal Support Worker may also reside. The primary focus is on ensuring the safety and well-being of clients, coupled with a commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for each individual under your care.

Throughout the Personal Support Worker Certificate Program, you will acquire proficiency in the following key areas:

  1. Care and Companionship:

    • Provide care and companionship to individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, convalescence, or family disruption.
  2. Bedside and Personal Care:

    • Administer bedside and personal care, including assistance in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing.
  3. Meal Planning and Preparation:

    • Plan and prepare meals, including special diets, and assist in feeding clients.
  4. Health-Related Duties:

    • Perform routine health-related duties, such as changing non-sterile dressings, assisting in the administration of medications, and collecting specimens under the general direction of a home care agency supervisor or nurse.
  5. Housekeeping Responsibilities:

    • Perform routine housekeeping duties, such as laundry, washing dishes, and making beds.
