Introduction
The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Primary (5-11) is a one-year course that leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You'll train to become a Primary teacher for the age range 5-11. You'll gain 60 academic credits at master's level as part of the course.

On this course, you'll develop your skills in teaching five- to eleven-year-olds across all the subjects of the National Curriculum at key stages 1 and 2 to professional standards. You'll engage with and use a range of evidence-informed strategies for effective and engaging teaching and learning.
We'll support you to be creative, understand the perspectives of others, evaluate your practice and children's learning. You'll learn how to and adapt what you do to enthuse the children you teach and to help them feel that they all belong in your class.

This award leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The focus for achieving QTS is particularly in the practice modules. UWE Bristol has chosen Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) as our accredited provider for the QTS elements of the course.

This one-year course is aimed at those who are not currently employed within a teaching environment. The course will help you to develop your teaching skills, reflect on current ideas about education and training and creatively explore the professional opportunities open to you.
This course will focus on working in primary education, and examine the wider perspective of supporting children's play, learning and development in a range of childhood practice settings.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) is the introductory teaching qualification for teaching adults or training adults in a college or further educational or working environment. You are not required to be teaching already as this course will give you a foundation of knowledge.
