This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the pharmacy sector or other allied healthcare professions.
This is a short full-time course which runs for 18 weeks.
Careers in the pharmacy sector will require students to hold a PVG. Students may be eligible in the future (after undertaking further studies) to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Placement information
There is no formal placement requirement for this course, however, you will be learning in the Edinburgh College Pharmacy Digital Care hub where you will have the opportunity to practice pharmacy skills in a simulated environment with Registered and experienced Pharmacy professionals.

Entry requirements
Pharmacy Studies Level 5 Route to careers in Pharmacy or equivalent.
Suitability for progression onto further study will be determined by achievement, a good attendance record, and good conduct and you will require a successful progression discussion with the delivery team.

Applicants are required to apply and will be invited along to an applicant information session at the Sighthill campus before any offer is made.
For this level, your uniform is funded through your bursary award (no requirement for you to pay). You are required to wear your Pharmacy uniform when in college pharmacy areas

Progression and Articulation Routes
On completing this course, you may gain employment as a member of the pharmacy support team working alongside pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to deliver pharmaceutical care.
Alternatively, you may be able to secure employment as a Trainee Pharmacy Technician and undertake further pre-registration study to allow you to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Edinburgh College was formed on 1 October 2012 as part of the merger of Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges. The college has four campuses, all of which were previously the campuses of the constituents of the merger:
On 17 April 2012, Edinburgh's Jewel and Esk, Telford, and Stevenson colleges collectively submitted to the Scottish Government a business case for their merger into a single "Edinburgh" college.
The merger was approved by the Scottish Ministers, and came into force on 1 October 2012. Edinburgh College values it’s rich history, especially those of the many legacy colleges that have come together over the years to better serve the learners of the Edinburgh and Lothian’s region.
A project is currently underway to collate the history of Edinburgh College and its legacy institutions and to create an archive of material to tell its story. Lots of interesting items have already been uncovered including old prospectuses, student newsletters, photographs and a log book from Ramsay Technical Institute dated 1923.
