All learners on this course must also have access to a work based assessor which must be a registered healthcare professional, to undertake clinical supervision in their workplace in order to complete their competency, for pharmacists this may be a Practice Nurse from your local GP Practice.

Sadly, at a family party, I witnessed my grandmother collapsing, and watched on as family members tried hard to resuscitate her. Although this experience was very distressing, it fuelled me with a deep desire to want to pursue a career in nursing to help people and ultimately save lives.

Venepuncture (Phlebotomy) and Cannulation are the most commonly performed invasive procedures in the NHS. To perform these procedures well and to a safe standard it requires staff to have relevant and up-to-date knowledge and skills.
To begin, we will recap on all things theory which you will have studied before attending your session. We will then move onto the application of theory through practicing your technique on equipment simulating a real person.
