CCTS City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT) course allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required to test portable electrical appliances with the code of practice for in-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical equipment. If you already work as an electrician it will add another string to your bow and can help you move up in the Industry.
This product has been developed in collaboration with the major stakeholders within the Electrotechnical industry the primary being the IET.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification but it is recommended that candidates should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory and ideally be working within the electrical or a related industry. The learner will understand the statutory and non-statutory requirements relevant to electrical equipment maintenance.

The learner will understand how equipment construction and classification reduces the risk of electric shock.
The learner will understand the procedures for the in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
The learner will understand why and how to carry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
The learner will understand the information relating to in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
The learner will understand the responsibilities and training requirements for personnel associated with the inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
The learner will be able to inspect and test items of electrical equipment
