The aim of Art Classes Brisbane is to provide quality art classes in a relaxing and creative environment. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced artist you are welcome. Classes are 3 hours in duration and held in our funky studio surrounded by exotic tropical gardens.
A free healthy morning or afternoon tea is provided and students are welcome to use the painting trays, water pots, art tools and old rag clothes provided by the tutor.

Brisbane Artist Katie McErlean commenced her formal studies at Queensland College of Art studying Fine Art. From there, Katie has enjoyed a long, rewarding and enjoyable creative career working as an Illustrator and Designer for major Australian News Papers such as Brisbane Courier Mail, Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian Newspaper's.
Slapping out slabs of clay can produce fabulous platters by hand, curls up the edges to create a rim, using bowls as molds and decorating surface treatment creates beautiful salad bowls and a couple of pinch pots with spoons for salt and pepper. No experience needed to make your food and table come
The session will start with a safety briefing and chat about the process, followed by a quick demonstration of throwing a pot on the wheel. You will then get to jump on the wheel yourself and get stuck into centring clay, pulling the walls and shaping your very own ceramic pieces!
Clay is such a versatile material, you can create anything you want with it. If you want to get into pottery but desire something a little more creative and inspiring than plain pottery, then this is the class for you. Â
An 8 week class for beginners and those with experience. Try your hand at hand building or wheel throwing . All clay, firing and glazes
The beginners' pottery class package consists of three 2-hour classes, where you learn to throw, trim and glaze basic cylindrical pieces of pottery. These three pottery classes have to be spread over the span of 3 weeks to allow time for your pottery to dry and get fired
