Course Details

This short course is for participants to be able to use PPEC in an appropriate way.

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to select, use and maintain PPEC appropriately. A one to two hour duration course depending on participants training requirements.

Participants should be able to:

  • Understand the principles of the hierarchy of control
  • Appreciate the range of PPEC available, its functions and its limitations
  • Select PPEC which is appropriate for both user and the work task
  • correctly fit and safely use PPEC
  • Develop procedures to ensure that appropriate training and supervision are provided to all staff who are required to wear PPEC
  • Preform appropriate inspections and simple maintenance of PPEC and be able to recognise when replacement PPEC is required
