This online course is designed to provide participants with knowledge of personal protective equipment, or PPE, requirements and to ensure that all employees, contractors and visitors are equipped with proper PPE to reduce exposure to hazards.
Who Should Take This Course?
Individuals who work with or around hazards and require the use of personal protective equipment. NOTE: Completion of this course does not provide comprehensive training for every type of protective equipment. Employers may have to provide further training, depending on the PPE employees are required to wear.
Course Outline
Upon completing this online course, participants should:
Understand basic PPE requirements including; eye protection, proper footwear and clothing, and hand, hearing and head protection
Be able to identify when there is a need for additional PPE in situations such as; welding, grinding, cutting and burning, electrical protection, respiratory protection, fall arrest and chemical handling
Understand procedures for the proper selection, use, inspection and maintenance for PPE
Be familiar with worker and supervisor responsibilities relating to PPE, along with all relevant legislation
Be aware of the limitations of some aspects of personal protective equipment
