This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness of the knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.
It covers identifying and orally reporting common constructions hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
Entry Requirements:
Students must provide Photographic Identification (Licence, Passport etc.). If assistance is required in regard to language, literacy and numeracy, please advise your trainer prior to enrolment.

The confined space course is aimed at entering and working in confined spaces within the resource and infrastructure industries. It includes training in planning and preparation, including hazards and risk management controls.

At Gold Coast Trades College our White Card Course covers the unit of competency ‘CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry’ which is compulsory for anyone who wants to work in the construction industry.
