The popular PRINCE2®Training Foundation course is a project-based method for managers which was created by the UK government.

Originating from the CCTA (the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency) in 1989 as the project management methodology, PRINCE2® (Projects IN Controlled Environments) was created in 1996 as the second version of this methodology.

PRINCE2® Foundation Overview

The PRINCE2® Foundation course is hugely acknowledged on a global scale and is in high demand as the techniques have been proven to deliver highly successful projects.

In gaining the PRINCE2® Foundation certificate you will then be eligible to go forward to complete the more advanced practitioner qualification. You will only become fully PRINCE2® qualified once you have completed the PRINCE2® Foundation course and the advanced practitioner course. 

Course Content

This is a 3-day course which provides you with the training needed to pass the PRINCE2® Foundation exam on your first go, based on the new PRINCE2® 2017 syllabus. 

PRINCE2® Foundation introduces the basics of PRINCE2 including its key terminology and principles.

The PRINCE2® Foundation course is directed at project managers and those wishing to break into project management. It is also suitable for other key members involved in the design, development and transfer of projects.

The purpose of the Foundation qualification is to prove that a delegate has enough information and understanding of the PRINCE2® methodologies to be able to work well in a project management team.

The PRINCE2® certification will enable you to participate in the PRINCE2® Practitioner course if you wish to do so.

What happens after PRINCE2® Foundation?

After you have successfully passed the PRINCE2® Foundation exam, you will receive your PRINCE2® Foundation certificate and you will be eligible to take the more advanced PRINCE2® Practitioner qualification.

Remember that you can only be fully PRINCE2® qualified once you have completed both the Foundation & Practitioner exams. You can also be provided with the option to take both Foundation & Practitioner courses together which can be hugely beneficial and only lasts for 5-days.

Please keep in mind that you have to pass the PRINCE2® Foundation exam before taking the upgraded practitioner course.

Upon completion of both the PRINCE2® Foundation and PRINCE2® Practitioner exam, you will be fully PRINCE2® qualified!

PRINCE2® Foundation Exam

It is important to be aware that AXELOS, (the company responsible for developing and enhancing best practice techniques) have changed the PRINCE2® examinations due to the PRINCE2® 2017 update. The PRINCE2® 2017 Foundation exam is formatted like so:

• Focuses on the fundamentals of the project management methodology

• Multiple choice

• Lasts for 1 hour

• The pass mark is 55%

• 60 questions

• Takes place on the third and final day of the course at 3 pm.

Learning the PRINCE2® techniques online has many advantages. You can study the project management method in your own home and anywhere else that has the internet. The online courses last for 90-days from the purchase date.

This gives you plenty of time to learn the foundation qualification and take the PRINCE2® exam with ease. The online courses are also cheaper than the classroom courses but you do lose that human interaction with a highly qualified PRINCE2® practitioner.

Although there are many advantages to carrying out the PRINCE2® Foundation course online we do feel that it is more beneficial to participate in a classroom environment.

This way you will have the support and guidance of a PRINCE2® instructor and like-minded individuals during your 3-day course. It can often be difficult to motivate yourself from home also, therefore it may take longer to gain your PRINCE2® Foundation certificate from home.
