The course serves as an introduction for learners who are entering the industry for the first time or a timely refresher for experienced professionals who need to move forward with the times, away from more traditional technologies.

This unit has been developed to enable the learner to have the opportunity to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of security surveillance information communication system (CCTV): The purpose, the various components that are involved, the individual features and application.

Additionally, the learner will get a grasp of the principles of information communication systems. The learner will learn about the how the industry has developed, how the industry is currently regulated, and the use of security surveillance information communication systems in varying contexts.

  • Explain the use of security surveillance information communication systems in different context

  • Understand local and international regulations and standards related to surveillance systems

  • Describe different type and functions of cameras used in security surveillance

  • Operate security surveillance equipment according to organisational procedures

  • Check and ensure that recording devices are of operational status

  • Operate surveillance equipment to capture relevant evidence in accordance to operational procedures

  • Identify and report subjects, scenes, actions, and time captured on surveillance equipment in accordance to organisation procedures

  • Explain the range of camera accessories used in security surveillance

  • Describe the features of lens and lighting in security surveillance

  • Compare the functionality of monitors used in security surveillance

  • Carry out basic troubleshooting and report security surveillance equipment faults to the supervisor

  • Complete relevant documentation relating to surveillance operations

 

Learning Outcomes

  • The learner will be able to operate different types of CCTV equipment according to organisational procedures

  • The learner will be able to check and ensure that CCTV recording devices are of operational status

  • The learner will be able to carry out basic troubleshooting and report CCTV equipment faults to the supervisor

  • The learner will be able to operate different types of CCTV equipment to capture relevant evidence in accordance to operational procedures

  • The learner will be able to identify and report subjects, scenes, actions, and time captured on different types of CCTV equipment in accordance to organisation procedures

  • The learner will be able to complete relevant documentation relating to CCTV operations

 

Mode Of Learning 

Primary mode of learning for this course is Face-to-Face Classroom session. This will be supplemented with interactive Practical sessions which serves to connect newly-learned knowledge and skills with the realities of the workplace and jobs.

 

Pre-Requisites

GCSE “N” Level pass in English and Mathematics. Broadly equivalent to WPL Level 5 and WPN – Intermediate Level. Anyone with an interest may benefit from a solid foundation of knowledge provided by this course
