It will ideally require actual practice of wound care management in a clinical environment or patient home.

Career benefits
This module seeks to provide focus and direction for practitioners who wish to develop their skills and expertise in relation to wound care.
The module aims to enable an individual practitioner to have broader competence skills to progress in a direction that meets workforce, meeting the needs of the future NHS as outlines in the Five Year Forward View in 2014 by the Department of Health (DH, 2014) and the HEE agenda for Clinical Academic Careers Framework (HEE 2015).
Completion of this Module should help the practitioner to be in a better position to progress in their career.
Assessment
Formative:
The students’ formative assessments will require all students to give a reflective account of a wound they have managed (or an image of a wound with a brief scenario will be provided) and how the MDT was involved in this patient’s care. This will help the student to understand the assessment criteria for the written examination.
Summative:
Two Hour Exam = 100%
A written examination during which achievement of the module learning outcomes will be demonstrated (100%).
The assessment requires the student to provide evidence of knowledge of the probable cause of the wound, assessment of the wound, treatment and prevention of recurrence. The student will need to critically evaluate current best evidence.
Two hours will be allowed for the candidate to explain how he/she would manage the wound shown on a picture and patient case history as well as complete short answers.
Pass Mark – 40% for level 6
Pass Mark – 50% for level 7
Assessment/submission date: TBC
