We are a commercial operator as well with tours and charters, but we have made our flight school our number one priority. We employ highly experienced and skilled flight instructors and hold ourselves to a high standard of training.
Most of our instructors did their initial training at MVH which helps maintain our high standards and consistency in training.
About The Course
Students in our Private Helicopter Pilot course will meet and exceed the minimum requirements set out by Transport Canada of 40 hours of ground school and 45 hours of flight training time.
The course is a combination of classroom ground school, exercise briefings, flight training, simulator training and hands on experience.
Both full time and part time training is available with flexible start dates and personalized scheduling.
Course Length
The Private Helicopter Pilot Course takes approximately three months of full time training. The completion date is weather dependent. The length of a part time course depends on the students schedule and availability.
Class Schedule
Full time classes run Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Students can expect flights most days, with non-fly days reserved for ground school and study time.

Mountain View Helicopters has been in operation for over 20 years, and we are a fully accredited Private Vocational Institution in Alberta. We provide the training standard other schools strive to achieve.
Students that register for our full time Commercial Helicopter Pilot training program are able to apply to the Canada Student Loans program for funding assistance. We are also recognized as an approved educational facility for RESPs.
Mountain View Helicopters is ideally located at the Springbank Airport, 10 minutes west of Calgary, Alberta. Springbank is a full facility airport providing the following:
Our facility is located airside providing efficient access to training areas. The hangar houses a state-of-the-art FLYIT simulator, an authorized Robinson Service Centre, and our onsite Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO).
In an atmosphere where questions are encouraged, our students gain additional practical knowledge observing maintenance inspections during their ground time.
Students also enjoy the spacious classrooms and lunch area which provide the right balance of camaraderie and quiet study time.
You will be able to fly helicopters but receive no compensation for your work.
The Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence Program (IATPL) is provided in collaboration with Centennial College and will be run from Toronto Airways facilities (the Canadian Flight Academy building) at the Oshawa Executive Airport.

After completing your PPL, you will be able to fly during the day while keeping visual contact with the ground and continue on to additional ratings that will allow you to fly in various conditions.
For people interested in piloting their own or their company’s aircraft where a Recreational Pilot Permit does not satisfy their needs; a person may find the most utility in a Private Pilot Licence.
