Private Pilot Licence (UK CAA)

Any pilot that you meet will always tell you, their greatest achievement was to gain their Private Pilot Licence.

This will provide you with access to the freedom of the skies to see things from another perspective. As an Internationally recognised licence, some states such as the USA will allow you to gain their licence, with the completion of the relevant paperwork.

The PPL is a minimum of 45 hours. However personal aptitude and consistency will determine the length of time and hours required to be up to standard for test. Whilst the PPL is a structured course, training can be scheduled around work, education and any other commitments that you may have. A more dedicated schedule is ideal, but we understand that life can sometimes get in the way. With this in mind, we are open 7 days a week and we use an online booking system in order to cater for your flexible progression.

Based on flying once a week, you can expect training to take around 18-24 months from start to skills test. On a full time basis, it could be completed in little as 3 months. Please bear in mind however that this is subject to weather, personal progress and other factors.

The aim of this course is to train you to the standard necessary for the issue of a PPL(A). This training is conducted in the 4 seat Piper PA-28.

The Private Pilot curriculum will be your first step into the exciting world of aviation. You will learn basic aerodynamics, and principles of flight. The flight training follows the UK CAA syllabus, encompassing 45 hours of flying time, to include pre-flight preparation, ground handling, airport and traffic pattern operations, cross country navigation, short and grass field operations, emergency procedures and post flight procedures.
