Private Pilot Training

The Private Pilot License (PPL) is the first step towards becoming a pilot. It allows you to fly single-engine airplanes for personal or recreational purposes. To get started with the PPL, the following will be required:

• A full medical examination
• Minimum age requirement for Solo Flight Students being 17 years, or the minimum age requirement for Private Pilot Students of 18 years old.
• Be a South African citizen or a holder of a study permit.
• Be proficient in English.

Training

The PPL training includes both theoretical and practical components. The theoretical component covers topics such as meteorology, navigation, air law, and principles of flight. The practical component includes flight training with an instructor and solo flight training.

You can typically obtain your PPL in 6-8 months, depending on your availability and progress.
