Effective business processes allow organisations to be more efficient, agile, and able to respond quickly to ever-changing customer needs.

This Melbourne MicroCert is ideal for professionals, managers, and business owners seeking a deeper understanding of the state-of-the-art tools and techniques used to document, analyse, and optimise business processes within an organisation.

Designed to give you essential practical experience, Process Thinking and Improvement has been co-designed with Telstra, Australia's leading telecommunications company.

Learning in this course is equivalent to Level 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Learn to identify clear starting and end points to your business processes.  You'll explore the key elements in process modelling including triggers, inputs & outputs, as well as customer expectations to ensure your organisation achieves its strategic goals.

Better understand your organisation's processes by documenting them in a process architecture that will facilitate the selection of processes for improvement initiatives.     You’ll use the American Productivity and Quality Center (APQC) framework as a guideline to identify and classify your organisation's processes in a process architecture.

Draw from proven methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, and operations management to confidently detect process issues and their root causes in your organisation. Understand when, how, and which redesign technique to use so process improvements align perfectly with your business management objectives.

Use industry-recognised software to build and implement user-friendly process models. Explore the principles of process modelling language, and gain the skills needed to develop visual representations that describe complex business processes for stakeholders.

Analyse a 'real-world' organisation's business process and draw on your new knowledge to identify one major issue. You’ll work in a team to solve the problem and redesign the business process, gaining valuable practical experience that will enhance your career options.
