Consisting of three modules, participants will undergo a mix of lectures and hands-on activities that cover visual communication design, industry-standard processes and terminologies, as well as an introduction to create and design insightful content with the user in mind. • identify the common tools within the Microsoft Menu bar that can be used to design Electronic Direct Mailers (EDMs)
• describe the four commonly used EDM layouts
• design EDMs using appropriate colour management, along with clearly written headlines
• define and describe the elements of a visual design piece using industry-standard terms and language
• critique the use of visual design elements in a given work and make recommendations to improve its effectiveness
• use appropriate industry-standard software to create and manipulate graphic and interactive elements
• organise data sets into coherent stories
• design graphical elements that appropriately represent data points
• apply design principles to enhance the visual appeal of infographics
• construct an infographic layout that places visual elements appropriately
