During your studies we will endeavour to do all that we can to find you a teaching placement within the college.

Your future

This course prepares you for a teaching career in the post compulsory sector. It is a requirement that all new FE teachers must complete a teacher training qualification as the first step in obtaining QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills).

The course does not lead to Qualified Teacher status (QTS) to teach in schools. However, since April 2012 those with QTLS are allowed to teach in schools on the same basis as those with QTS for 14+ students.

Positive Futures

Positive Futures is a set of essential qualities, embedded throughout your study programme, that we seek to develop in all students:

  • Commitment

  • Collaboration

  • Confidence

  • Resilience

You will also engage in the Positive Futures Careers Programme, developing key employability skills through a diverse range of activities including work placements, volunteering, employer talks, industry study visits and employment and university fairs.
