Rosslyn Alternatives professional training in holistic massage therapy is run from our own training centre in Livingston, easily accessible from Edinburgh, Glasgow and the whole of the central belt. Externally accredited by the Massage Training Institute, we believe our training for massage therapists is the best of its kind in central Scotland!

Entry Requirments
This is an entry level course. No previous experience of massage or anatomy is required. You need to be over 18, and physcially able to perform the massage techniques that are in the syllabus. The course is taught and examined in English, and there is a level of technical detail required.
About Us
Our Tutors and Therapists
Ros has been working with people in a variety of different professions over the last 30 or so years. She worked and lived in a community for a number of years in a training centre, focusing on personal development.
Ros moved to Pitlochry, Scotland in 1983 as assistant director of a centre for people in need of respite. In the mid 80s Ros came to Edinburgh University, achieving a joint Honours degree in Divinity. Staying in the Edinburgh area, she worked for eighteen years as a manager in the social care field, particularly with homeless people who are among the most excluded from our society.
Her basic massage training was with the School of Holistic Therapy in Edinburgh with whom she worked as a tutor for three years before setting up her own training school.
After undergoing extensive further training she now has holds a Diploma in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage, with Distinction, from the Jing Institute. Ros also has trained in Myofascial Therapy and is certified as an Integrated Myofascial Therapist with Myofascial Release uk.
As director of Rosslyn Alternatives, Ros works in partnership with the NHS providing complementary health and relaxation sessions for patients in an addiction programme. Rosslyn Alternatives also works in partnership with other local social care organisations.
Ros has the quality mark of the Complementary and Natural Health Care Council (CNHC),is a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners, and is a Director on the Board of M.T.I. Rosslyn Alternatives training is externally accredited by the M.T.I. Our work is professionally supervised and we work within the guidelines and code of ethics of the M.T.I, FHT, IFL and EFR.
Our Indian Head Massage training course is a 1 day course giving you a flexible skill to use in the spa, salon or home environment. Indian Head Massage is based on traditional and Indian techniques by using a variety of massage movements.

On this course you will learn an effective and safe way to use warm bamboo. Working with bamboo you can use some wonderful deep tissue techniques with no wear on your hands letting you work efficiently and providing a warm and deep massage.
This course covers reading and interpreting the feet as well as performing relaxation and pressure techniques. It also includes the theory and history behind the reflexology treatment. Resources with clear diagrams and images are included to give you the best possible learning experience.
