The course aims to bridge the gap between formal certification courses and the need for practical skills, by delivering the key elements of formal certification courses, but in a shorter format and with an increased emphasis on practical tips to drive performance.

This 1-day Project Management Fundamentals course is led by a certified PMP Project Management consultant, with years of experience managing projects of all sizes in various industries.

On this practical 1 day course you will learn the basics of effective project management from looking at different methodologies and which scenarios to use them, the delivery of projects and how to keep them on track and how you can manage the success of you projects.

Along the way you will get lots of useful hints and tips to help your projects run smoothly.

The course is tailored to the delegates attending so you can look at your own projects and apply the examples as you go through the day.

 

Objectives:

During the day, you will learn the tools and processes to organise your project and to drive its performance. You will:

  • Learn the responsibilities of a Project Manager, and how a good project manager uses consistent processes to deliver superior project performance
  • Understand the difference between ‘linear’ and ‘agile’ project lifecycles, and alternative approaches to managing them (Gantt chart vs Scrum board).
  • Understand to use planning tools to define the project and avoid scope creep
  • Managing uncertainty: develop a risk management plan for your project, and learn how to use ‘scenarios’ to plan alternative pathways
  • Learn tools to enhance the quality of the team’s contributions to meetings and tools to enhance engagement levels in a virtual meeting
