Theory and practice of the management of projects in organisations. The system development cycle; organisational and behavioural issues; systems and procedures for scheduling, resource allocation, control, and evaluation of projects.

Course learning objectives
Students who pass this course should be able to:

  • Evaluate portfolio management opportunities within an organisation
  • Be able to choose from a range of appropriate and practical professional project management practices to apply to their projects
  • Understand the success factors for projects
  • Understand and apply the appropriate technical skills of project management such as project scheduling, resource management, cost estimating, earned value management, and qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.
  • Understand and apply the interpersonal skills needed to lead a project team
  • Critique your own project management experiences and contribute to capability and maturity uplift in your organisation.
