PTE Academic is a computer based English language test for international students, which is accredited by leading universities and colleges around the world. Due to the availability of earliest dates and immediate results, it is a fast emerging English Language Proficiency test among the students.

There are different sections, each with its own set of instructions and questions, meant to assess the English language ability of candidates in real life-like situations.

The 3-hour long PTE Academic test will include excerpts from actual lectures as well as graphs and charts. Candidates will be tested on their response in English to these situations. They must also know typing since it is a computer-based test.

Also, they must expect to hear a wide range of accents from Australian and British to American and non-native English speakers during the exam. Eligibility Criteria

• Aspirants’ planning to take PTE exam – minimum age requirement is 16 years.

• Aspirants’ below 18 years need to submit a proof of parents consent.

• Actually, there is no such specific PTE eligibility criterion.

In accordance with the PTE eligibility criteria, candidates with disabilities can also appear for the PTE Academic Test. Candidates may request certain minor alterations at the test center where they intend to take the test. Available accommodations without prior approval include wheelchairs, and adjustable chairs or desks.

However, test takers must schedule through the Pearson Customer Service call centre to ensure that the request can be met. The Customer Service team will help in scheduling appointment over the telephone and send a confirmation email.

Exam Format

In the PTE Academic exam format, there are four sections having 20 Question types viz. Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.The PTE General test has mainly two sections – a written paper and a spoken test.

The written part is further divided into listening, reading comprehension and writing skills sections.
