As digital forensic examiners expand their knowledge and understanding of forensic artefacts within PCs, mobile phones and other devices, so they repeatedly encounter key evidence which is not appropriately reported by commercial forensic tools.
Course Aims
As digital forensic examiners expand their knowledge and understanding of forensic artefacts within PCs, mobile phones and other devices, so they repeatedly encounter key evidence which is not appropriately reported by commercial forensic tools.
‘Python Scripting 1’ is a 3 day course designed to teach students how to start writing simple scripts in Python with a strong emphasis on those aspects of the language which are relevant to digital forensics.
What You Will Learn
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Write short Python scripts to open and process files of evidential interest
Write short Python scripts to recover thumbnail images from input files
Write short Python scripts to recover evidence from SQLite databases
Write short Python scripts to produce text and comma separated value (CSV) output
Who Should Attend?
The course assumes no prior knowledge of Python or any previous programming experience; however delegates must have previous experience of working with raw (hex) data and be confident navigating such data within a hex editor.
Control-F is passionate about helping forensic examiners get to grips with digital evidence. We believe that we excel at explaining complex concepts in ways that are easy to understand, because our customers tell us so.
We believe that simple visuals are infinitely more powerful learning aids than wordy bullet points and we have eleven years experience working with law enforcement, private sector and academic customers both in the UK and overseas.
Vendor-Neutral
All of our training courses are ‘vendor-neutral’; by that we mean that we make the decision as to which (if any) commercial forensic tools to include within our training.
We receive no commission from tool providers for including their tools in our training, nor do they influence the content of our training courses. In fact, much of our training emphasises the limitations of commercial forensic tools and how easy it can be to miss critical evidence which tools may not have extracted or may have extracted, but not decoded correctly.
We believe in teaching the underlying principles of how electronic devices operate and store data and how to safely recover digital evidence in accordance with the ACPO Principles of Computer Based Evidence and complementing these with experience of market leading forensic tools, alongside free and open source software.
Become a professional Python Developer
This course teaches delegates the fundamentals of C# and how to use it in order to programme computer software. During this course you will be taught C# language fundamentals and how to understand the tools involved in the design process and designing data driven applications using C#.
.FeatureCAM is the unique CAD/CAM system that uses feature-based and knowledge-based technologies for automated machining, minimising programming times for milling machines, lathes, multi-tasking lathes, mill-turn centres and wire EDM machines.
Java is great for its ability to get general problems solved by average developers, for its backward compatibility, and for its vast and stable ecosystem, largely open source.
Java Swing is the most well-known and helpful component of the Java Foundation classes for developing window-based applications.
