Course Details

Course Objective

To provide the participant with the skills and knowledge to undertake Basic Rigging activities in accordance with Safe Work Australia’s National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

 

Course Outcome

On successful completion of this course learners will be issued

  • Statement of Attainment
  • Notice of Satisfactory Assessment and Tax Invoice
  • High Risk Licence (RB) issued by SafeWork SA

 

Course Content

  • Steel erection
  • Placement of precast panels
  • Erect and dismantle a material hoist
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms
  • Safety nets and static lines
  • Perimeter safety screens and shutters
  • Use of rigging equipment, winches, block and tackles
  • The use of formulas in the calculations of loads

 

Course Prerequisites

  • Must hold a current High Risk Work Dogging Licence
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Learners must be 18 years of age to undertake assessment
  • Must be able to work at heights
  • Learners will be required to complete homework for the duration of the course
  • A solid understanding of mathematics is required which includes using formulas to calculate loads and capacities. Learners must be able to use a calculator
  • Preferably hold Scissor Lift ticket

Note: RPL pathway is not available for this course due to licensing requirements. Learners are required to complete the full training program.
