Normally, if you work in the shipping terminal and container storage yard, the most important daily routine work tasks are to lift, move, stack, and store all cargo containers and finished products.

The powered industrial lift truck “Reach Stacker” is the work force often used to get this job done. To operate this piece of equipment safely on the job, you'll need skills and experience.

If the Reach Stacker Truck is operated by untrained or unauthorized personnel, it will cause an accident, and normally the accidents involved are vital or even fatal. Therefore, only trained and authorized personnel are allowed to use and operate this powered industrial truck.

The operation of the Reach Stacker involved more individuals in the operator, truck, and operating environment. To provide optimum performance and safety, they required all the factors to work together as a team.

As such, the OSHA 1994 (Act 514) Regulation required all powered industrial truck operators to go through proper safety training in theory as well as practice before operating.

It has been the main responsibility of all employers to provide this training to their Reach Stacker operators. However, operators need to re-train every 12 month’s calendar or every new improvement product that takes place, as well as any new regulation amended, to ensure safety in handling and operation carried out properly at all times.
