Real estate finance is the capital that transforms development ideas into the built form. But in this course, we will focus on real estate finance as a dynamic and significant industry. We'll explore the internal language, norms, and practices of financiers, including hedge funds seeking returns to rival Wall Street to others backing community redevelopment and affordable housing projects.
We will be joined along the way by finance practitioners, including several operating in the Twin Cities, and their development clients. There is an entire real estate finance ecosystem to explore, and I intend for students to leave the class with an understanding of its products, sources, and roles, as well as to develop facility with the analytical tools.
