During each term, children will have the opportunity to work towards and achieve badges and certificates as part of Southampton Gymnastics Club's Award Scheme. This will encourage children to progress further in gymnastics. Whilst children are participating, having fun and learning new skills, parents can either watch through our waiting area window or take a break to use time as they please.
Southampton Gymnastics Club is a not for profit organisation, and registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC), the club is run by a Management Committee with a formal constitution. The club affiliates to the Southern Region and British Gymnastics. Southampton Gymnastics Club was formed in 1968 and through its 52 years of experience, the club has witnessed repeated success upon the Regional, National and International gymnastics scene.
In 2006 Southampton Gymnastics Club moved into a dedicated facility on the same site as Redbridge Community School, which is purpose built for gymnastics. It boasts a main gymnasium complete with sprung floor, tumble track, fast track, sunken trampoline, and the unique feature of a 'gymnastics pit'. In addition there is a second sprung floor located in a separate gymnasium, a dance studio and a weights room. Being the only club in Southampton City to have a purpose built facility for gymnastics, we are uniquely able to offer a wide variety of gymnastics classes.
Southampton Gymnastics Club have a number of excellent qualified coaches that are crucial to the success of our club and gymnasts. All our coaches have British Gymnastics qualifications, are DBS checked and attend Safeguarding Courses every 3 years.
We teach the children all the basics of gymnastics, how to do balances and partner balances, forward & backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, basic positions and fundamental movements.Â
Our Adult class is the perfect way to recapture your youth! These fully structured classes help develop strength and flexibility using gymnastics skills and movements. Suitable for all, from complete beginners to more experienced gymnasts.
Classes follow a 10-week plan, ensuring gymnasts have the opportunity to facilitate all of the equipment. Please contact us directly for class dates and details.
Gymnastics classes are offered by Glamorgan Dance Acdemy. Each lesson is held as a serperate class to enable pupils to specialise in the area. These classes are for mainly 4 year olds and the younger gymnasts, they are a smaller group to allow the young children more attention, the classes run for 1-1.5 hours. They work on the Bars, Beam, Floor and Vault and work through the British Gymnastics Explore Rise badges.
