When you learn a new language, you are diving into a new culture and making it part of your daily life. Our French Department offers you a wide-range of classes, from beginners to advanced. With our different class formats, flexible schedules and dynamic approach, you are guaranteed to reach your goals quickly.
We teach 9 levels of French oral and written communication daytime and evening classes to beginner to advanced students who want to learn or improve their French. We also have specialized classes for students who wish to work on a particular skill or area.
Regular French courses

In-person in downtown Montréal or online from the comfort of your home, we offer a wide range of courses, for youth and adults, in nine languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin, and Modern Arabic). Whether you want to learn a new language or improve your language skills, the YMCA International Language School is there to support you in your learning.
Did you know that there are almost 8 million French speakers in Canada? Although approximately 85% of them live in Quebec, there are over a million who reside in other parts of the country, which means if you live in Canada, you probably come into contact with the language on a daily basis.
Knowledge of another language can boost your career and provide valuable insight into cultural differences. International House Vancouver language courses will help you build a strong foundation and develop fluency in modern languages so you can converse easily with native speakers.
This class is different from our other classes, as the primary language of instruction is French, although the staff also speaks in English. The children easily comprehend the daily routines, simple questions, and they also learn to speak for themselves when they need to be excused from the table.
Our regular program is based on the four components of Conversa’s communicative approach to language training. Conversation is practiced at each class. Participants practice what is required to say in day-to-day situations and hold conversations with each other.
The Business French program has been designed as an integrated curriculum for students who are seeking to improve their English language skills in a professional environment. Our teachers have business relevant qualifications and work experience with professionals.
