The pandemic has accelerated a pre-COVID-19 shift in how individuals and teams do intellectual work. The post-pandemic future of teamwork is likely to be a purposeful hybrid combination of virtual coordination and in-person collaboration.

Effective Leadership in this new hybrid world requires different skills beyond traditional team leadership. Building resilient leaders is thus critical for sustainable businesses.

This immersive and experiential programme is designed to help business owners and managers develop an in-depth understanding of their own leadership signature with authenticity and resiliency.

Business owners and managers have to lead and take responsibility for staying ahead of the race and they can do this through a renewed entrepreneurial mindset.

Participants will learn how to regain their “spark” and passion for work through the “real” examples of the entrepreneurial journey as they navigate through the uncertainties and disruptive market changes.

 

At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to:

  • Regain their own “spark’, and learn how to lead with an entrepreneurial and resilient mindset
  • Learn the five components of emotional Intelligence to become a skilful and thoughtful receiver of feedback
  • Feel empowered with ownership by having a personal contract
  • Acquire a practical framework motivating and managing multi-generation workforce
  • Build trust with accountability and transparency

 

What are Generation Z and Millennials looking for in the workplace?

Generation Z will soon surpass millennials as the most populous, with over one-third of the world’s workforce. The Great Resignation may continue for some time; four in ten Gen Zs and nearly a quarter of millennials would like to leave their jobs within two years, signaling significant dissatisfaction.

Understanding the root cause of the dissatisfaction enable managers to be more effective in optimizing the potential of the future workforce.

Pre-requisites:

  • Minimally a Diploma

 

Assessment

There will be presentation or written assessments for each module. Participants have to meet a minimum attendance rate of 75% and have to complete all assessment(s) required by the course. Only upon meeting the minimum attendance and passing the assessment will participants be issued a Certificate of Completion.

Participants who fail the assessment will be given a chance for re-assessment at a fee of SGD108.00 (incl. 8% GST). Each participant is allowed 1 re-assessment. The re-assessment has to be taken within 7 calendar days from the end of the course date.

It will be held on a weekday specified by SMU Academy and conducted during office hours. Please note that re-assessment fees are not supported by SSG Funding.

Participants who meet the minimum attendance rate but do not achieve a pass for the assessment will be issued a Certificate of Participation.

Participants are required to bring their laptop to access the course materials, class exercises and individual assessment(s).

 

Learning Activities

Aside from the seminar-styled teaching method used in class, there will also be extensive use of experiential learning methods to put into practice the theories that have been learned. Normally, such learning activities will be done in groups.

  • Deon Senturk Chief Executive; Team Rise - Deon has over 25 years of global experience in organizational development and business leadership. She has over ten years of management consulting experience, became the senior leader's top advisor, and facilitated successful culture transformation projects with companies in the hospitality, retail, education, and technology industries. She specializes in leadership development, team coaching and culture building. A firm believer in positive psychology, Deon has been an educator and teaching at Singapore Management University Academy since 2016; her leadership workshops and coaching focus on enabling leaders to look inward to gain self-awareness and acquire leadership skills to lead a team with confidence and clarity. On an organizational level, her coaching has helped teams unite with a sense of purpose and connections, manage change through uncertainty, resolve conflicts and elevate engagement in a hybrid environment. Deon holds a Master's in Business Administration from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management from California State Polytechnic University – Pomona, where she was valedictorian of her class. She is a certified Talent Plus strength development coach and certified coach practitioner by Certified Coaches Federation. In 2020, Deon received a recognition certificate of leadership excellence by APAC Entrepreneur as "CEO of the Year 2020" her article "Leveraging Human-Centred Growth Strategies to Transform Businesses" was featured in the magazine. She is a board advisor for sHERO China, a non-profit organization that empowers women through education and specializes in DEI, the future of work, and women's development. She volunteers her time in various mentorship programs working with students at iAcademy Philipines, Singapore Social Science University (SUSS), ITE College West, and professionals at the PODEX Community Mentorship Programme (CMP). Danny Loong - CEO and Founder of Timbre Group Danny Loong is an entrepreneur, producer, creative, musician, and Founder/ CEO of Timbre Group. Timbre Group is an eco-system with a diversified portfolio of businesses from F&B concepts, event and artiste management, place-making and management and lifestyle brands, including the Timbre+ series of Modern Food Parks (Eastside and One North), Hawker Centres (Yishun Park and One Punggol), Timbre Music Academy, its flagship live music bistro/bar, Timbre @ The Arts House as well as new brands such as The Usual Place and Timbre Pizza. Timbre Group also organised a music festival "Timbre Rock & Roots” (in hiatus) which featured legends and popular acts like Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, John Legend and others, and the largest beer event in Asia, Beerfest Asia (Director from 2009 till present).
