Our Story
Safety Matters was founded in 2008 by Jennifer Richards. Jennifer began her career in the construction industry in 1987 as a Carpenter’s Apprentice and became a Journey Level Carpenter in 1992. After 12 years working as a Carpenter, she transitioned to Construction Safety working as Safety Director for a large general contractor in the area.
Safety Matters is a third-party Safety and Health Consultation Company that specializes in on-site safety trainings, workplace inspections, accident investigations and assistance with Labor & Industries disputes.
In 2017, Safety Matters Training Institute opened in South Seattle. The Institute offers open enrollment courses which gives companies the opportunity to register a single worker or a group of workers. We also offer customized coursed, if a client has preferred dates/times, we will do our best to accommodate their scheduling needs.
Rigging training is offered by Safety Training Specialists, Inc. The training is always customized to your company needs. It can be for general safety, construction safety, manufacturing safety, or even specific equipment safety, such as a power press.
This basic rigger and signaler class covers an introduction to rigging, determining load weight, sling angles and stresses, center of gravity, basic hitches, sling types, lifting hardware, below-the-hook-devices, verbal communication, and hand signals.
This full-day course is taught in the classroom and is intended for individuals who are experienced riggers, qualified persons or qualified engineers.
This Rigging Equipment for Material Handling Training course includes information about material handling equipment and a basic awareness of rigging.
