In this class candidates will learn how to perform simple, repetitive rigging tasks when the load weight, center of gravity, the rigging, and rigging configuration are provided or known by the rigger through experience or on-the-job training prior to the rigging activities.
Candidates must pass both Written and Practical Examinations to be certified for a five-year period. The Written and Practical Exams may be taken in either order. Candidates have 12 months from the time they pass their first Written or Practical Exam for each rigger level in which to pass the corresponding (Written or Practical) Exam.

This course is a requirement for an individual – who is not a licensed rigger or a designated foreman of a licensed rigger – to supervise the hoisting or lowering of articles on the outside of a building with hoisting equipment. In lieu of completing this course.

Upon completion of this class the basic qualified rigger will be able to: inspect rigging, use various types of rigging equipment and basic hitches, recognize associated hazards, and signal operations, identify and describe the use of slings and common rigging hardware.
This course is hands-on and not recommended for individuals who do not enjoy working at heights. Many advanced skills put the technician in elevated positions to complete the scenario.
