Rigging And Slinging (Dogman)

This course has been designed for people who require a working knowledge of crane operations that involve lifting varied regular loads and safely directing cranes during operations. Gain a clear understanding of Dogman responsibilities and the skills needed. Learn about relevant regulations and general information around the crane industry as a whole.

People who successfully complete this course will meet the requirement of unit standard 3789 (15 credits) and will be able to:

• Apply knowledge of risk management, hazard control, and rigging planning to slinging regular loads.
• Demonstrate knowledge of truck loader crane equipment and attachments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the difference between regular loads and irregular loads.
• demonstrate crane industry communication methods.
• Prepare and sling regular loads.
• Safely direct a crane during crane operations.
