The aim of this course is to provide confined space education to all persons working within industries that utilise confined spaces. It is designed to provide the basic skills and knowledge that underpins safe work in confined spaces
Who Should Attend?
All persons with work activities related to a confined space including those who:
perform work in or on confined spaces
have responsibility for the direct control of work in confined spaces
are involved in emergency response and first aid procedures
What will they learn?
The aim of this course is to provide confined space education to all persons working within industries that utilise confined spaces. It is designed to provide the basic skills and knowledge that underpins safe work in confined spaces, to ensure the health and safety of all persons who have to enter, work in or on confined spaces, in compliance with the current legislative requirements of Work Health and Safety Act, the current Work Health and Safety Regulations and the current AS/NZS 2865.
Reassessment
AS/NZS 2865 requires reassessment 'at appropriate intervals'. The industry regards reassessment on a two to three year cycle as good practice. To re-assess people in this competency, we complete the full confined space entry course to be undertaken.
For those who regularly work in confined spaces, and prefer to simply re-sit the assessments rather than complete the full training, this may be arranged.
Objectives
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
outline appropriate legislative requirements and responsibilities
identify scope of permits to work and complete permits to work
use safety equipment and personal protective equipment
work in accordance with, and complete permitted work in a confined space
apply basic risk management concepts
enter and control confined space work
observe permitted work
conclude confined space operations
emergency response and equipment requirements
