  • Identifying areas and processes that need to be assessed

  • Hazard identification 

  • Considering past experience / accident history when determining risk level. Use of matrices to help determine risk

  • Considering existing control measures and the extent to which they eliminate / manage risk

  • Considering further controls and timescales (that are reasonably practicable) 

  • Risk assessments in practice (delegates assess a task/ area of their choice)
