Otherwise known as Jitterbug or East Coast Swing. It is a 6-count style of dance and is considered a simpler form of the swing style. It does however introduce the essential swing rhythm – doubles and triples.

Our Rock'n'Roll classes are a great way to get into swing dancing if you have never done it before, a great dance for beginners or indeed anyone who loves to boogie.
The East Coast Swing is an offshoot of the Fox trot, and interestingly is an “invented dance” (by the American Society of Teachers of Dancing in 1942).
It is essentially a refinement of the Lindy Hop (by the A.S.T.D.) and was taught as the East Coast Swing/Jitterbug.
By the 1950’s it was being reintroduced to the public as Eastern Swing (by the various dance associations) in an effort to re-sell the same dance to the public by identifying (the popular and recognised) Swing as Rock’n’Roll.
Join us in our fun, friendly, and safe studio environment.
Our primary aspiration is to provide quality teaching in a relaxed atmosphere - often in the classes we laugh a lot, dance a lot, laugh a lot more, and then learn a lot!
So if you’re willing, we’d be delighted
Rock and Roll Dance works on the 4/4 measure. We can easily convert you from this Rock and Roll Dance style into our Latin American Jive as you advance further through the courses.
Rock'n'Roll dancing was born in the late 1940's and became popular with teenagers in the 1950's, and is still as popular today with all generations. It is a great dance skill to have to take with you to parties and social events.
