We offer English classes at various levels as well as a wide range of other languages, typically including Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Mandarin, Italian, Korean, Russian, Japanese and more on offer.
Our classes usually run for 10 weeks, taking place once a week on campus.
About Us
Our Story
The idea for the International Society arose back in 1966 when Eva Auerbach, a Chaplain at the University of Manchester, felt there was a need for an independent organisation to provide welfare and social support to international students.
Under the direction of Ms Anna Ford the Society was founded. From small beginnings of less than a hundred members we now have around 6,000 members from over 130 countries each year.

The International Society is a unique one of a kind, independent charity based in Manchester that has been celebrating cultural diversity and promoting global friendship for over 56 years.
We aim to provide international students with a warm and friendly welcome when they arrive in the city and to make their time in the UK a wonderful experience. Our activities including trips, classes, events, activities and volunteering opportunities are open to all.
While the majority of the Society’s members are international and British students studying at the universities and colleges in the city, many are people who have come to live and work in the UK, or members of the community interested in meeting people from all over the world. The Society is family-friendly and people of all ages get involved.
Russian is estimated to be spoken by 144 million people worldwide, making it a top 5 language in the world. It also has huge cultural and social implications, with many large corporations and tourist destinations located in Russian-speaking countries.Learning Russian can provide great opportunities...
Russian is the native language of some 160 million citizens of the Russian Federal Republic. It is one of the six official languages of the UN and ranks with English, Chinese and Spanish as a major world language. Russian remains the unofficial lingua franca of the former Soviet republics.
Russian Language is offered by Bristol Tutors. Our dedicated tutors are committed to navigating students through the intricacies of language acquisition and customising tutoring to suit individual needs and learning preferences.
Russian course is offered by CZ Languages. Our courses are taught by highly qualified and experienced teacher who are extremely dedicated to ensuring you leave with all the necessary skills to broaden your horizons and never be lost for words again.
We organise small group courses in our offices in Holborn in the evenings.
