Course Details

Russian is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world, with more than 150 million native speakers and another 110 million or so who speak it as a secondary language, mostly in former Soviet Union republics such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Ukraine, and Georgia.

It is an official language in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and an important language in some countries, e.g. Israel and Mongolia. Russian is also an official language in UN and the International space station. It is a useful language for students of history, international politics and literature as Russian is the language of some history’s greatest writers such as Pushkin, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Gogol, Nabokov and Dostoyevsky.

 

Russian Beginners (Level 1)

This is for you if you have no prior knowledge of Russian (or so little that you effectively want to start again from scratch). You will learn basic skills to enable you to make yourself understood and to find out information in everyday situations.

 

Russian Post-beginners (Level 2)

You can already manage in everyday situations using the present tense. You have reached the A1 level in the ELP self-assessment grid and/or completed the Beginners (level 1) Course.

 

Russian Intermediate (Level 3)

You have reached the A2 level in the ELP self-assessment grid (equivalent to a good grade at GSCE) and/or completed the Post-beginners (level 2) Course.This course is taught in small a group. It requires a minimum of 7 and it can have up to a maximum of 12 students. Course fee includes all tuition, access to Blackboard, handouts and any tests/exams, but not a textbook.
