Safe Forklift Operations

Participants will be able to state the reasons for operator training and understand the causes of lift truck instability and accidents. They will be able to state the responsibilities of operators to themselves and others including their legal duties identify all the controls and state their functions.

Objectives:

• Participants will be able to state how load centers are calculated for
• The truck; carry out the daily or take-over checks, complying with legal duties, before
• Operating and state the parts of a lift truck requiring particular attention
• They will be able to safely start up and maneuver the truck in open and confined spaces;
• Correctly pick up and put down empty and loaded pallets or unit loads at different heights;
• Safely park and stop truck at end of operation.
