This programme is designed to develop delegate’s understanding of abrasive wheels safety when setting and using abrasive wheels.

Course Aim:

To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels and to enable the to comply with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) in the safe mounting of abrasive wheels.

Content

  • Abrasive Wheels Regulations

  • Legal requirements and responsibilities

  • Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels and identification/control of causes.

  • Method of marking, storing, handling and transporting

  • Selection of correct wheel.

  • Machine checks

  • Mounting and dressing

Training Methods

  • Classroom based tutorials and discussion

  • Hands on practical exercises.

Methods of Assessment:

  • Verbal/Written theory assessment

  • Practical assessment

Qualification/Certification

  • “In House” Certificate

  • Or NPORS Card/Certificate

Duration:

  • 1 Day or ½ Day

Location:

  • On your premises

  • Or at one of our sites in South of England.

Additional Information

For employers requiring plastic cards an additional charge of £5.00 per person will be levied. Delegates will need to provide a passport photograph at the start of the course.

NPORS Registration is at £17.50 per person.

A practical exercise may be included into the syllabus subject to a suitable and risk assessed practical area and the necessary equipment and PPE being made available for the duration of the training.

Furthermore training will be specific only to the type of abrasive wheel used by the delegates in their line of work and therefore needs to be advised to us at the time of booking.

For training held at your own location please ensure you make available a suitable room, which can comfortably accommodate with seating the number of delegates attending. We will also require a 240v power supply.
