Pre-Requisites:

  • Employees must be over 17, physically fit good eyesight, hearing and have a head for heights.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Identify the principle components, terminology & features associated with the equipment.

  • Be able to carry out a pre-start check. and Harness & Lanyard Inspection

  • Use controls correctly. And Smoothly

  • Position equipment safely and prepare for work. Observe all surroundings and hazards etc

 

Course Outline:

  • Health & safety legislation 1974act. Loler & Puwer 1998.Regs.

  • Introduction to powered accsess equipment.

  • Principle components,Machine,Harness & Lanyad Inspection ,Height Safety Information

  • Travelling & manoeuvring the machine.correct mounting and dismounting.

  • Basic safe operational practise

  • Pre-use checks & inspections, Hazard Observation

 

Teaching Methods:

  • The course consists of lectures, Course Training Books and Site Safety Information Books supplied. Video/DVD presentations and practical demonstrations. Information is based on current legislation, HSE guidance and manufacturer’s recommendations.

 

Assessment:

  • Delegates will be required to complete a written assessment (multi-choice questions) and demonstrate by means of practical exercises, controlled use of the equipment & Site Assessment.
