Alberta Safety Council
Since our humble beginnings over 65 years ago, the ASC’s primary focus has been to help all Albertans develop an attitude of safety that will last them a lifetime.
Although established as an organization primarily dedicated to farm and rural safety, the ASC grew to encompass transportation and children’s safety by the 1960’s and WHS by the 1970’s.
As a non-government, not-for-profit organization dedicated to changing the face of safety for all Albertans, we are the only “cradle to grave” organization offering safety training and educational programs for Albertans ages 3 – 93. We work diligently to develop an attitude of safety with both children and adults through our quality education and prevention programs.
By taking a proactive approach to our training and program development, we help companies protect their most valuable assets – their employees. Although our program offerings have evolved and expanded over the years, the one thing that has not changed is our commitment to “Making Alberta a Safer Place to Live, Work and Play.”
Students receive a book with theory and guidelines for competent operation of a Elevated Work Platform. Scissor Lifts and Aerial Boom Lifts are covered. Students will learn the importance of performing a pre-start inspection Identify problems affecting the safe operation of the AWP.
The student should have an awareness of the various legislation, regulations, and standards that pertain to powered mobile equipment. The student should understand the roles and responsibilities of employers and employees as they relate to the operation of PME.
This is a service that we do quite often. Usually, we will attend a workplace one or two days a month. During those days, we will with the JHSC conduct a comprehensive workplace inspection, conduct a risk assessment on a high-risk task and develop a safe work procedure.
During this training, employees will learn how to properly evaluate a load in order to lift it and move it safely. They will study how to calculate angles and the different attaching techniques according to their number.
The goal of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to have a better understanding of the principles of auditing, the auditing process, the audit review.Â
