Making art, cooking, learning new things, and connecting over shared interests is our small contribution to making the world a better place. Nurturing our community is core to who we are and we live by the motto that everyone is welcome at The Works, always.
The Works started as a DIY school for adults, offering in-person experience-based learning in Seattle. As challenging as the Covid-19 pandemic has been for individuals and small businesses, it sparked us into bringing an idea we've always had to life.
We've distilled the magic of our in-person classes into DIY Kits, complete with materials, detailed instructions, and a video to walk you through your projects. It's almost like having The Works in your home!
This class is for intermediate adult sewists. Here you can choose a pattern and work through it with my guidance, and lots of encouragement from fellow classmates on their own sewing journeys.
Fun and functional, our classic cotton tote bags are perfect for carrying it all! Tote size can be larger or smaller than pictured.
Learn all the sewing techniques you need to? create beautiful clothes in our Advanced Sewing Techniques Sewing Intensive. Students in this sewing class learn professional techniques to sew collars, fly front zippers, welt pockets, plackets, and more.
This class helps you become comfortable doing basic alterations on your own. The topics include taking seams apart and adjusting seams on shirts, jackets, dresses, pants, skirts, and other garments.
This 4.5 hour class ( morning session - break - afternoon session) is designed to give students a chance to improve and build on sewing skills learned from our Straight Stitch Skill 1 class and concepts in sewing construction.
