The overall aim of this course is to develop in trainees an understanding of scaffold components, forms of construction and inspection procedures of basic access scaffolds and to comply with current codes of practice and legislation.

  • Scaffold components/materials
  • Scaffold terminology
  • Means of access and egress
  • Gin wheels and ropes
  • Scaffold foundations
  • Scaffold ties
  • Construction regulations and recommendations of basic scaffolds
  • Working platforms
  • Basic independent tied and putlog scaffolds
  • TG20 compiant scaffolds (e.g. bridging with beams, protection fans, freestanding towers, lift shaft towers, ladder access towers, birdcages, loading bays and chimney stack scaffolds).
