All the children not only get to learn and improve their gymnastics skills such as cartwheels and handstands they also get to work on all our specialist gymnastics apparatus, the asymmetric bars, beams, Fasttrack, trampoline and our new foam pit area!
We also provide regular opportunities for the children to gain British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards, achieve our own Somersault Gymnastics Grades as well as participating in the Somersault Gymnastics Championships.
Somersault was established in 2005 by former British Champion and Great Britain International gymnast Jason Wink. In 2000, Jason created Tiddliwinks preschool gymnastics classes. Due to the popularity of these classes, it was soon evident that a full time gymnastics facility was required to cater for the demand. In 2005 Tiddliwinks became Somersault and moved to their own premises and got sweeping and carpet laying!
Despite it’s short history, Somersault is one of the largest gymnastics club in Wales with over 900 members from walking age to 16. At a pre-school and recreational level Somersault is second to none, and at an elite level we excel. Somersault has produced a multitude of Welsh Squad members across both men’s and women's gymnastics.
In April 2014 Somersault Gymnastics Club CIC was incorporated and operates as a not for profit organisation with the objective of providing facilities and tuition to allow gymnastics to develop in the local community. A year later in April 2015 Somersault moved in to a new, larger premises at Unit B St Catherines Park, Cardiff.
Our Gymnastic Dance Classes are designed particularly for the younger children, reception class age and upwards.
