SEW Hut was opened for business in 1982 by Harriet E. McLaughlin, a gracious store owner who was always kept a pot of coffee brewing and was more than happy to share her sewing knowledge with all who wished to learn.
Today, Harriet's daughter, Ingrid, carries on her mother's tradition of down-home service. She strives to maintain a welcoming and supportive store environment where sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels feel right at home, whether they're shopping, socializing, or learning.
Fitting is often the trickiest and most frustrating part about garment sewing. We’ve designed this course for students who have previously sewn garments and are interested in improving the fit of their pants.
Heirloom Sewing has long been associated with high quality cotton, silk or linen fabrics, French or English laces, Swiss embroidered lace, fine hand embroidery or lovely machine embroidery. All of this specialty area of sewing allows for creativity on the part of the seamstress.
Have fitting issues? Need patterns interpreted? Looking for creative ideas or a Valentino look? You pick the project (subject to instructor approval) and we work together to take your garments to the next level with details that add the "wow" factor to your sewing.
This is a very hands on class for beginners. We start making projects since first class. You will learn hand stitching, how to use a sewing machine, fix your favorite clothes, the use of patterns, among many others.
This is an all levels class. Take some time off from home and join us with your pre-crawler baby and learn or practice your sewing skills. We will be making cute clothes and accessories for your baby. Beginners and All levels in machine sewing are welcome to join.
