When in doubt, start at the very beginning. This course is designed to give novice stitchers a comprehensive foundation in machine sewing. Students will graduate with the skills they need to make a project from start to finish, and will gain the confidence to begin tackling anything.

Skills Learned:
We’ve established a community of which I’m very proud. This includes our instructors, who share their talent generously and who never stop following their curiosity to push the knowledge of their crafts further.
When class isn’t in session, it’s not uncommon to find a Butcher’s teacher experimenting with a new technique or learning from another instructor with a different area of expertise.
Our teachers walk the walk: our garment-making teachers make their own clothing, our quilting teachers piece up seemingly fabric-defying designs in their spare time, and our needlecraft teachers have Instagram feeds full of their latest embroidery, sashiko or bead work.
Join us for a strip swap to make the Trellis Crossroads quilt!
Whether you are sewing a t-shirt or a silk blouse, elastic waist pants or tailored trousers, a casual jacket or tailored coat, a simple dress or an evening gown – you can polish your sewing skills, add creative details and boost your confidence.
In Learn To Sew Club, kiddos age 5-8 will learn a mix of hand sewing and machine sewing (yes, they will learn to use a sewing machine! WOW!), focusing on working those fine motor skills, delaying gratification and expanding attention spans and encouraging self-patience.
This is the class to introduce you to your machine and all its functions. Alicia will show you how to thread the machine and bobbin, how to use the features such as stitch patterns, stitch width and length, and other special functions of your machine.
Sewing class is offered by Color Me Empowered for all skill level. Color Me Empowered was organized in 2008 by Kristen E. Rice, an art teacher at Polk Elementary in Dallas ISD. We work with school-aged children in out-of-school-time and in-school programs in the Dallas area.
