DC Stitch, Capitol Hill’s sewing studio for kids since 2015, offers classes after school, on weekends, and during the summer. It is run by Emily Martin, the principal of Bride’s Head Revisited, a bridal accessories business.
Where she creates custom-made bridal veils and accessories for retailers around the country. Emily worked in several fashion museums and has a master’s degree in Fashion History from the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York.
This class is for beginning to intermediate students, ages 8 - 13. We will teach students how to use their machine and make a project each month. Please check with us for details on each month's project.

Over the course of the series, complete three projects that teach professional sewing techniques like sewing straight lines WITHOUT pins and other basics including winding a bobbin, threading a sewing machine, reading patterns and cutting fabric on the grain.
A very BASIC 4 week class in which you learn how to make a simple skirt and how to operate a sewing machine. After the completion of this course, you may continue by signing up for an 8 week course.
Learn to thread and use the sewing machine. Have a great introduction to sewing processes as you pin, cut, iron, and sew practical projects with straight seams and seam finishes.
