Interested in learning to sew? In this course, you’ll be taught how to use a sewing machine and learn the basics, and make a custom accessory.
DurationThis course will introduce students to the simple techniques of sewing including basic seams, darts, and manipulating techniques such as pleats and gathers. The tutor will give step by step demonstrations and guide you through the process.
You will be encouraged to work independently and be provided additional support when needed.
Having completed a series of samples you will be able to apply your new found skills to a base pattern and make a custom accessory.

On completion of this course you will have produced a selection of fabric samples, and made a finished sewn product.
MAC is a contemporary arts centre and charity, set in the magnificent surroundings of Cannon Hill Park, just two miles south of the city centre. MAC provides arts for all, for every age and background, with the mission to make art an important part of people’s lives.
Sewing classes are offered by Sew Creative for teenagers. Our weekly after school teen classes are aimed at those aged 11-17 who want to take their sewing skills to the next level.
This introduction to using a sewing machine begins with learning a bit about fabrics and hand stitching. You will then learn how to set up and operate a sewing machine to make seams, facings, darts, hems and buttonholes and to set in a zip.
Sewing classes are offered by Fabrics For All for all skill level. We are passionate about helping people in the area get creative and turn your dream project into reality.
This is a five hour one to one lesson during which you will realise your own unique, personalised leather clutch bag and get to take it home with you. This is a one to one course during which you will be taught the basic skills of working with leather and learn how to use specific tools.
For those who are new to sewing, want to add to their sewing knowledge or just need a refresher we offer a lovely selection of easy to manage sampler workshops and sewing classes.
