This class is perfect for complete beginners & people who have sewn in the past but need a refresher without committing to a 6 week class. You will learn how to competently use a sewing machine and complete a tote bag.
Ready to pick up that needle and thread for the first time and only have a few hours? Or finally take that sewing machine you bought out of the box and put it to good use? With this workshop we are going back to the basics, starting from scratch, and taking you step by step through all the essentials to make learning to sew a fun and inspiring experience.
This class is perfect for complete beginners & people who have sewn in the past but need a refresher without committing to a 6 week class. You will learn how to competently use a sewing machine and complete a tote bag.
During this course you will learn:
· all of the necessary sewing terminology & equipment
· how to make the perfect tote bag
· over 6 different types of stitches & seam finishes you can complete using a sewing machine!
Projects: Denim tote bag
Fabric and Supplies: For virtual classes, sewing machine, scissors, ruler and pins needed for this class are not provided. Sewing kits for the tote bag will be shipped upon registration. All supplies for in person classes are provided.
Virtual class recordings: All virtual classes will be recorded. If you miss a class or need to practice at home you may request the recording and rewatch. Class recordings are only available to students registered for the class and only the speaker will be recorded.
Kristine is a womenswear fashion designer and sewing instructor based in New York City with an education in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Missouri State University.
In addition to her specialized education, Kristine has years of experience within the industry including positions at Ford Models, J. Mendel, Gurhan, and David Yurman.
Kristine also has her own clothing business K.BANASIK that has been sold in over 25 stores all of the world. She believes her clothing and sewing lessons empower students and build confidence.
During this two-week series, you will learn the foundations of sewing machine operation, as well as measuring, cutting and fabric selection. You will leave with a good working knowledge of a sewing machine and a beautiful handmade pillowcase.
During this sewing class students will be introduce to the art of re-fashioning a piece of clothes by learning techniques to give old and forgotten clothing a new lease of life and make it into a "new and more interesting" piece of clothes that they will be able to wear, gift or sell.

Lay the foundation for garment construction by mastering the essentials of sewing. Learn about different stitches, seam finishes, and fabric handling techniques that form the building blocks of successful apparel creation.
This friendship group is open to anyone who needs a place to work away from all of those distractions at home! Work at your own pace, on your own projects. It's a great way to spend a Friday evening - with quilting friends!
