Sexual Harassment Prevention in the Workplace

Aims of the session:

• Understand what sexual harassment is and how it manifests

• Understand the impacts of sexual harassment

• Identify behaviours that constitute sexual harassment and those that lead to sexual harassment

Outline:

1. What is Sexual harassment:

• Legal definition

• Practical examples

• Where does this occur (where is your employee base most likely to experience this? How do intersectional factors change the way sexual harassment manifests

• 2. Link to sexist attitudes (The connection between sexist attitudes and behaviours that lay the ground work for sexual harassment)
• 3. Reflective activity: reflection on stereotypes and language with discussion
• 4. Impact of sexual harassment in the workplace
• 5. Your employer policy and procedures 
• 6. Practical activity: Challenging inappropriate behaviours

Target Audience:

The session can be developed for the following (5 – 20 learners per session)

• All colleagues 

• Managers/Supervisors

Recommendations (to be discussed):

• HR/Leadership should be prepared to provide their internal policy on this 

• HR/Leadership should use this training as part of an overall a behaviour change framework

• A short pre/post survey to measure outcomes can be created and administered by the trainer, or Siren Training can support with questions to embed into your own systems
